Born and raised in Colorado, Greta Sugai is a guest teacher and choreographer, traveling nationally to teach, set work, and create workshops across the U.S. and internationally. In 2015, she founded Messengerz Dance Co., leading the company to New Zealand for dance ministry opportunities, and in 2025 led the company for a month-long European tour across four countries for outreach and performing. Greta is currently in her third year as a competition judge and convention teacher with Sheer Elite. She is also in her seventh year as a dance professor at Colorado Christian University, and has served as a guest professor at universities including Grand Canyon University and Liberty University. Greta is passionate about building connections, supporting dancer growth, and fostering excellence in a positive, encouraging environment!

Sophia has been dancing since she was about 9 years old at a small Christian dance studio in Hawaii. She has done many productions and outreaches with her studio, as well as a couple of dance competitions. She was also able to perform with a professional dance company from Boston when they visited Hawaii and put on the original production Queen of Nori. Sophia has always had a heart for using her gift to worship and glorify the Lord, so when she met Greta at a masterclass she taught in Hawaii she fell in love with Greta's passion for the Lord. Greta invited Sophia to perform with Messengerz in June 2024 in Colorado and Sophia would describe it as such a beautiful experience. She also joined in Messengerz month long trip to Europe in 2025. Sophia also is moving to Colorado in March of 2026 to become more rooted in the company! She can’t wait for more wonderful memories with Messengerz.

Anya began dancing at the young age of two, and her competitive journey started when she was just four. She continued competing through her high school graduation. She received classical training in ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, and contemporary at both competitive studios and a dedicated ballet school. At age eight, she performed with a professional dance company in their production of Aladdin, marking one of her earliest professional experiences. During her competitive years, she attended numerous conventions, earning multiple scholarships as well as a Protégé award. In convention classes, she trained in master classes led by acclaimed choreographers, including Talia Favia—her favorite contemporary artist. Throughout high school, she danced on the performance team for four years and served as team captain her senior year. That same year, her solos were choreographed by Sara Gutz (World of Dance television competition and NYCDA assistant), under whom she also studied. She continued her dance training at Grand Canyon University, performing in Student Spotlights and Faculty Shows. Now entering her senior year at GCU, she is majoring in Forensic Psychology. She is relocating to Denver to join Messengerz and feels blessed to be part of the company.

Matthew is grateful to be a part of Messengerz and loves dancing alongside such a talented and inspiring group of artists. Originally from Chicago, he began his dance training at Aspiration Dance Co. before relocating to Colorado in 2020. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Dance and Psychology from Colorado Christian University. As both a performer and choreographer, Matthew is passionate about using movement to tell meaningful stories, express emotion, and glorify God through contemporary dance. His training spans Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Contemporary Fusion, Tap, Musical Theatre, and more. Throughout his career, he has performed in productions and dance events including Collections, Convergence, The Nutcracker, The Comeback, Heartbeat, Creation Cries Out, Magnificent Obsession, and many others. Matthew currently teaches at Castle Rock Dance Academy, Christian Youth Theater, and Cultivate Dance Performing Arts Academy. Beyond his work with Messengerz, he has had the privilege of teaching for Starstruck Academy of Dance, Broadway to Africa (in partnership with Young Life), CYT Chicago, Audience of One Youth Theatre, Rise Christian Performing Arts, and Colorado Christian University. Above all, Matthew is deeply passionate about dance as an act of worship and believes movement is one of the most powerful ways to glorify the Lord, and connect with others simply through movement.

Becca Shoemaker, a Colorado native, has been immersed in dance and musical theatre since the age of two. She earned her BFA in Dance Performance from the University of Wyoming, where her performance credits included Pablo Francisco Ruvalcaba’s reconstruction of José Limón’s The Winged at the Kennedy Center, as well as works by renowned choreographers Charmaine Hunter, Keith & Kelly Saunders, Darrell Grand Moultrie, and Tai Jimenez. Her training also took her abroad to London, where she studied at Pineapple Dance Studios, The Place, and Danceworks Studio under artists such as Troy Powell of Ailey II. Professionally, she has performed with the Glenwood Vaudeville Revue and is so excited to now be dancing with Messengerz Dance Company. She continues to share her artistry through teaching, choreography, and mentorship. Becca gives all glory to God for the gift of dance and the opportunity to inspire the next generation.
